The corpse of a giant sea monster has appeared on a beach in Australia and astonished the locals and terrified the tourists. The creature could be an ancient fish but scientists know nothing about its origins, so far.
The sea monster weighs 330 lb and is 2 meters long
John and Riley Lindholm, a couple on vacation in Australia, have discovered the sea monster and could not believe their eyes.
“I have never seen such a great fish, especially on the beach,” said John, who also took some pictures.
According to eyewitnesses, the mysterious creature that resembles a fish weighs about 330 lbs and is over two meters long. John Lindholm has long worked at sea, being a shipmaster, but claims he has never seen such a huge fish.
“I thought he was an Epinefel, judging by the shape of his head, but it looks too strange and does not seem to match what the locals told me about this type of fish,” Lindholm said.
A theory has emerged online but a scientifical identification is difficult
According to some of the people who saw the pics on the Internet, the newly found sea monster could be a coelacanth which is an ancient fish species that was believed extinct until 1938, when one specimen was discovered.
On the other hand, the District Officer of the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol has said that the sea monster is nothing else than a Queensland Groper but admitted that the “condition of the fish made a definitive identification difficult”.
He added that “how the fish came to be washed up on the beach and its cause of death also could not be determined”.
In fact, such mysterious fish are frequently discovered by accident on beaches around the world. Some of them could’ve been identified but some discoveries remained unexplained, as it has also happened with the sea monster that has been found recently in Australia.
